My name is Elijah DeVries and I am a creative from Oakland, CA. My design journey began early in high school, when I spent nearly every day filmmaking, designing graphics for clothing, and skateboarding around the city. Stemming from this situated urban context, I began exploring fashion as an outlet to express the feelings of displacement and adolescence in my hometown.

After living in New York for four years, my mindset has consistently remained to engage with fashion at all levels of the design and production process. My work integrates a uniquely American sensibility of the city, celebrating the derelict and rusty, and researching what it means to be member of our urban communities. As an active maker, I am deeply invested in the constructions and finishings of every garment; I believe the technical aspects of design are equal to the imaginative, and they provide incredible inspiration to my work. In addition, I have attempted to establish myself as an imagemaker by working in mixed media; film and digital photography, 3D rendering and design, embroidery, and vinyl work.
